  • Develop relationships with parts

  • Pause when blended with parts

  • Restore inner calm

  • Begin to heal the past when it shows up in the present

New Groups Forming Now

The Introduction to IFS Coaching group is for those who recognize the power of the IFS model and are ready to use it to improve their present lives and create a better future. Each participant will learn to detect and connect with parts.

Think of the group as basic training for those who want to learn how to use the IFS model for their own personal development. Group sessions will be both educational and experiential. Over time, participants will develop a clear understanding of parts and Self and will have begun to develop the skills and abilities needed for Self-leadership.

Meet with your group at least three times a month to focus on the practical application of the IFS model in your life.

If you think the Introduction to IFS Coaching group might be right for you, let’s talk about it. Please go to my online calendar to schedule a free 30-minute discovery conversation. We can meet on Zoom or talk on the phone.

This is your first step

I love helping people get results in their lives. I’ve been trained to help you get results by showing you how to change your mindset and find your power. My training in the IFS model (Internal Family Systems), provides a powerful tool in my coaching toolbox to help you make lasting changes from the inside out.

You can temporarily make yourself do the things that will get results. But this approach is exhausting and frustrating. I can show you how to bring about lasting change while tapping into energizing inner resources.

Many clients believe that coaching will fix what’s wrong with them so they can get the results they want. But you aren’t broken. When you develop Self-leadership, you will begin to change from the inside out.

I created the Introduction to IFS Coaching group to teach and demonstrate how the IFS model can be used to help you gain access to the inner resources you need to have the life you want. Learning how to use the IFS model is the first step in getting lasting results.

“When Bill and I first connected, I told him I lost my community when my body stopped letting me go hiking. My friends continued hiking together while I was stuck at home alone and depressed.

I joined one of Bill’s Introduction to IFS groups. We are halfway through the 16-week commitment and already this is changing my life from the inside out.

My amazing part that was allowing me to white knuckle it each day with the mantra “everything can be an opportunity to thrive” is now having a blast helping my body get stronger at the YMCA… She has the cute little spandex suit and just loves being there with everyone else’s parts. Honestly, I have a shit-eating grin most of the time and feel so much love when I am there. I might possibly look a bit crazy but I am just so happy.

I now have the emotion of Joy in my life  again. Long may it live.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Who will facilitate the group?

The group will be facilitated by me, Bill Tierney. I am a Certified IFS Practitioner and Results Coach. I have been trained in the IFS model by both the IFS Institute and IFS of Canada. I completed IFSI Levels 1 and 2 training in 2020. In 2021 I completed training in the IFS Couples protocol, IFIO (Intimacy from the Inside Out). I have supported students as a Program Assistant in Level 1 trainings and have created three coaching programs using the IFS model.

What is the purpose for the group?

The purpose for this group is to help participants learn and practice using the IFS model for their own personal development and growth.

Who is the group for?

This group is for anyone who wishes to have a formalilzed and professionally facilitated process for getting to know their parts and developing Self-leadership. The group is appropriate for those who are new to IFS. The group setting makes this kind of support more affordable than one-on-one facilitation by most IFS trained therapists or practitioners. The group setting adds an additional social and relational aspect to the practice of the IFS model as participants develop relationships both internally and externally throughout the group experience.

Is this group therapy?

This is not group therapy. While IFS is a therapy model, non-therapists like me have been trained to facilitate it. Using the IFS model in this way is definitely therapeutic. It is healing. It is mind, body, emotion, cognitive, and behavorially therapeutic. This group and the curriculum provide IFS training for your own personal development. But this is a coaching group and not a therapy group.

Is the group intended to train practitioners or therapists in the IFS model?

This is not IFS practitioner and therapist training. If you wish to be trained so you can use the IFS model to help your clients, go to www.IFS-Institute.com, www.stephaniemitchell.com.au, or www.IFSCA.ca.

Are group sessions in person or online?

The group meets online using Zoom video conferencing. Particants will need a strong internet connection and a digital device that will accomodate video and audio for a Zoom session. Go to www.Zoom.us to learn more.

Will there be homework?

While there may be suggestions about what to do between sessions and plenty of extra resources and optional exercises, there will be no mandatory homework.

What will be my time commitment?

Your commitment will be for three months. Sessions meet weekly at least three times per month (and as many as five times some months) and sessions are 90 minutes long.

What is the cost of the group?

The initial cost of the group is $600 for the first three months. After that, you will be invoiced $200 per month.

Is there a sliding scale?

I do not offer a sliding scale. But I do offer free practice sessions with my Parts Work Practice CoLeader, Alison Dyer on the 1st and 3rd Sundays each month and on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays. For more information, go to www.PartsWorkPractice.com

Why would I pay for this group when I can just go to Parts Work Practice for free?

There are many reasons to participate in this paid group. You may want to do both.

  1. The group size is much smaller (limited to eight participants) than the free practice group which can have as many as 70 or more participants.

  2. Our time in the paid group is focused on practicing the IFS model, being coached in use of the model, and learning about your internal system than in the free group.

  3. You will be with the same group participants each week.

  4. You will have the same facilitator each week (Bill Tierney).

  5. You will get more focused and individual attention and support from the facilitator including coaching during our discussion period if desired.

  6. When paying for a group, you are more likely to prioritize the time each week to spend with your parts than if you don't have a financial investment.

  7. Group participants have access to discounted 1:1 sessions.

What is the group size?

There are 6 to 8 participants in each group.

Will sessions be recorded?

Sessions will be recorded on request but shared only with your group's participants. Past participants report that having access to recorded sessions helps them to review later or to watch when they are unable to attend a session.

What happens in group sessions?

Group sessions are 90 minutes long. Each session will begin with an internal check-in followed by coaching, education, and discussion. Participants are encouraged but not required to interact during group sessions. This is an Introduction to IFS Coaching group which means that participants will learn to use the IFS model for their own personal development.
