Bill Tierney, Certified IFS Practitioner

Bill Tierney is a Certified IFS Practitioner with advanced training from the IFS Institute. He has written four IFS coaching workbooks -True Self Leadership (2019), The Self-led Project (2021), Self-led Results (2023), and Compassionate Results Guidebook (2025). He is coauthor of the forthcoming Parts Work Guidebook (2025) and is writing his memoir Rage (2026).

Bill began coaching in 2011 while working in mortgages. In 2015, after completing Accomplishment Coaching’s Seattle program, he left that career to coach full time. The struggles of training led him to therapy, where an IFS practitioner helped him discover innate confidence through Self-energy. Drawn to the model, he began IFS training in 2019. Since becoming certified in the IFS model, Bill has continued his training, completing the IFSCA Stepping Stones program and currently participating in the Institute for Healing and Awakening IFS for Coaching program.  Bill has also assisted in IFS trainings as a Program Assistant.

Bill cofounded Parts Work Practice, a free weekly IFS group which hosts half-day conferences  and has now been running for nearly five years. He cohosts the True You Podcast, leads five IFS-based coaching groups - including programs for practitioners- and continues to coach individuals using his Compassionate Results framework.

For Coaches That Sense There’s Something More

The program is limited to twelve seasoned coaches who already do transformational work and are committed to expanding their impact even further. In a safe and intimate container, you will experience a profound personal transformation. You will learn how to form compassionate relationships with the “burdened” parts of yourself using the Internal Family Systems model. As you do so, you will gain more access to the resources and qualities of your highest and best Self. Expert training, supervision, and practice will enable you to integrate IFS into your coaching practice so you can model and facilitate the same transformational process for your clients.

ELEVATE is a unique program, blending the evidence-based methodology of IFS with the power and possibility of transformational coaching.

As you learn to integrate the IFS model into your coaching practice, your clients will find new freedom and power. IFS will help you:

  • Awaken new possibilities and energy within clients and their lives

  • Understand and liberate the patterns and strategies that keep clients from shifting

  • Unburden your clients from the old beliefs and unhealed experiences that hold them back

  • Transform clients’ harsh inner voices into helpful allies

  • Untangle clients’ inner conflicts to experience greater clarity, confidence and courage

  • Empower clients to live with greater self-love and inner peace

  • Release resources and invite qualities within your client that have been waiting beneath the surface all along

  • Recognize and free the parts of yourself that interfere with your grounded and clear coaching presence

  • Free up internal space in you and in your clients for greater ease, joy, creativity and play

  • Expand access to the calm, wise and loving Self within you and within your clients

  • Experience more authentic connection to yourself, to others, and life as a whole and model this for your clients

  • Create and maintain inspiration for your purpose-driven work

The Self-led Coach

What happens when you integrate IFS with great coaching?

The result transcends transformation.

Until you’ve experienced IFS for yourself, it’s hard to imagine the difference it makes. The goal of the IFS model is Self-leadership. Using IFS, coaches become “Self-led”- they lead their lives and support their clients from who they really are - their true, authentic Selves. And that energy is powerful. It’s called Self-energy and it is contagious. Self-leadership ENERGIZES coaching - it awakens clarity and compassion in the coach because it embraces whatever the client brings -

Their self-sabotage, their procrastination, their resistance, their fears and worries, their anxiety, their challenges, their caution, their self-defeat and discouragment, their confusion, and their distractions.

Whatever the client brings, the Self-led coach has room for it. The Self-led coach embraces the client - actually meets them where they are - and helps them understand themselves in ways that they never had. Does the Self-led coach have superpowers? YES! Because they are coaching from Self.

Designed for Experienced Coaches

This program is built for coaches who:

  • Already have a strong foundation and years of experience

  • Want to integrate IFS into their coaching practice

  • Work with clients who sometimes stay stuck despite good coaching

  • Are ready to elevate their impact and effectiveness

  • Prefer an approach rooted in curiosity, clarity, and compassion

By the end of this program, you’ll have:

  • A fresh perspective on what keeps clients from moving forward

  • Practical tools to work with patterns that block change

  • More confidence in handling the coaching moments that used to feel heavy

  • New ways to see yourself and your clients — with more clarity and compassion

  • An approach that works when traditional coaching isn’t enough

This isn’t about replacing the way you coach — it’s about expanding it. You’ll leave with a deeper sense of mastery and a new set of tools to support your clients where they need it most.

Even Great Coaches Get Stuck With Their Clients Sometimes

You already know how to coach. You’ve honed your craft, built your skills, and helped countless clients make meaningful changes. But every coach - no matter how experienced - hits moments where the work stalls.

Your clients come to you because they want something different in their lives, but sometimes even the best tools and strategies aren’t enough. They get blocked. They circle the same patterns. And despite your best efforts, the breakthroughs don’t happen.

These aren’t failures. They’re signs that something deeper is going on beneath the surface — and that’s where IFS comes in.

When Coaching Hits a Wall

The Internal Family Systems (IFS) model opens a new door when coaching reaches its limits. Instead of trying to push clients past resistance, you learn how to meet what’s underneath it — the protective patterns, unspoken fears, and younger parts of your clients that are quietly driving behavior.

IFS gives you:

  • A new lens for understanding your clients when they feel stuck

  • Practical tools to help loosen patterns that keep them looping

  • A way to help clients access their own untapped resources

  • More ease and clarity in your coaching conversations

When you integrate IFS into your practice, the “hard stuff” starts to feel lighter — for you and for your clients.
